Twog 1: The Occasional TWOG

What, you may ask, is a TWOG? Never heard of it? Well, you won’t find that word in the dictionary. You won’t even find it in the Urban Dictionary. It’s a word that exists only in the dictionary of my mind, just something that came into my head one night when I couldn’t sleep. Since I like to Tweet, and since I just started my home page, I thought I’d like to write a brief daily reflection on the things that enter my very crowded brain, my unquiet mind, my thoughts which have a stamina beyond the stamina of my body.

Rene Descartes, the French philosopher, wanted to know on what foundation to build his own philosophical house. What could he know for certain? He began a methodical doubt. In the end he came to the conclusion that he could doubt everything. But then he came to this: Doubting required thinking. That is the one thing that he knew for certain—that he could think. And so he wrote: Cogito Ergo Sum. I think therefore I am. I like to joke around with myself. I like to think too much therefore I am too much. I’m just too godamned much. I can deal with that. Can you?

Yeah, I think therefore I am. But I feel too. I could say, I feel therefore I am. I’ve come to the conclusion that there can be no separation what we think and what we feel. I filter all my thoughts, all my thinking through my strong but wounded heart. Maybe we all do this. I don’t know how other people go about reflecting and learning and gaining knowledge. I am passionate about the things I do. I am passionate about the people I love. I am passionate about the country I love. And I am passionate about the words I put on the screen of my laptop.

There is more to say. There is always so much more to say. Tomorrow, another day, another Twog.

Go and find somebody to hold hands with. Stay sweet.
